Prashanth Tharani to make 12 Hours of Spa debut in Touring Car Endurance Series
The Indian returns to racing action this weekend after a year's gap.
In a last-minute confirmation of the deal and subsequent arrival of the visa, Prashanth Tharani will compete in the 12 Hours of Spa event this weekend.
The Indian will make his debut in the newly formed Touring Car Endurance Series, which is in its second season. It is organised and promoted by Creventic - who also runs the 24 Hours Series.
Tharani will drive the #105 Zest Racecar Engineering's Seat Leon TCR V2 DSG (2000cc) partnering with Macedonian Viktor Davidovski.
The Chennai-born driver's association with UK's Zest Racecar outfit goes back long as the Indian also competed for the team in the 24 Hours of Paul Ricard in 2015.
Since then, Tharani has had a deal in place to race for the team in selected events, with this weekend's Spa-Francorchamps being the first event of it coming into fruition.
This will be Tharani's first major international stint since competing in the Volkswagen Polo GTI Cup China last year, where he became the first Indian to win a race in the category.
