Preowned Luxury Cars for Under 10 Lakh ($13,500)

Ensure you get the Best Deal on any Secondhand Luxury Automobile

German luxury automobile manufacturers like Audi, BMW and Mercedes have made their presence felt in the Indian market for some time now, to an extent where every Indian aspires to have one at some point in their life. And although these cars come with a rather hefty price tag, you could get your hands on a preowned one for the price of a brand new i20.

Now Germans are known for being perfectionists and for their attention to detail, which reflects in the craftsmanship of their automobiles. If the vehicle has been maintained well by its previous owner these cars will age gracefully. And if your research is done well, you will have absolutely no trouble finding one that has a scratch-free, shiny exterior and a mint condition interior.

But all that is superficial because the actual beauty lies in the heart, these engines are manufactured with finesse and poise. Usually, these German automobiles are available in the Indian market with a four-cylinder 2.0-litre engine that is mostly turbocharged, with preference being given to the diesel variants over the petrol for the sake of mileage.

Being a big fan of preowned luxury cars myself, I have decided to share my research on vehicles I would consider buying for under Rs. 10 Lakhs ($13,000).

Would you believe me if I told you, that you could get an Audi A4 for just under Rs. 9 Lakh ($12,150)? Well, it's true, the car in question is a 2010 registered 2.0 TDI that's had only one previous owner, has driven just 56,000 kilometres and is listed at Rs. 8.95 Lakh ($11,480) to be precise. In my opinion, this is a steal deal for a car that started out at Rs. 30 Lakh ($40,500) plus. Powering this A4 is a 2.0-litre engine that produces 150bhp and 320Nm of torque, this diesel A4 will also give you a pocket-friendly mileage of 12.4kmpl.

Next up is one of my favourites, the BMW 3 series. This particular 3 series is the 320d, that has less than 50,000 kilometres displayed on the odometer and is just 8 years old. And if you find that impressive, the best part is yet to come. This baby sedan by BMW has had only one previous owner and its priced at just Rs. 8.75 lakh ($11,800). I have always been a bit biased towards BMWs, especially the 2005 to 2012 generation 3 series for its stunning body shape and design. Powering this beauty is a 2.0-litre diesel that produces 170bhp and this engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic to give a happy 12.1kmpl.

I have saved the best for last. Now, the previous two cars from Audi and BMW, have their baby sedans as contestants, but for this last car, we have Mercedes’ mid-sized sedan; the E class. Yes, you heard me right, a 10-year old E class for just Rs. 10 lakh ($13,000). And to top it off, the car in question isn’t your regular 2.0-litre diesel, but the 3.5Litre V6 petrol that produces 276bhp and 355Nm of torque. Bonkers, right? To think that you could get an Rs. 60 lakh ($80,100) Mercedes V6 for such an amazing deal 10 years later. This 2010 E350 has the rare metallic sky-blue exterior and is superbly maintained by its previous single owner who has run her for only 44,000km.

That concludes my list of luxury cars worth considering for under Rs. 10 lakhs ($13,000). If you haven’t already noticed, what all these vehicles have in common is the fact that they all have had one previous owner, have run very few kilometres and have not yet celebrated their 10th birthday. That’s the basis for your research to shortlist your dream luxury cars before visiting the dealer for your test drive. Would you consider buying a preowned luxury sedan and if yes which one would you consider? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section.
