PSA: If You Kart, Never Rage Like This Guy [UPDATED]
Feeling cross is never good; pulling this on a live track will be the end of you
Luca Corberi has done something reprehensible during the final round of the FIA's KZ Karting World Championship: take his anger out to competitors under green flag, live race conditions.
The clip above has been making rounds on Twitter among racing fans for obvious reasons, seeing as Corberi just took a piece of front bumper and threw it straight at 15 year-old Paolo Ippolito (who made contact with Corberi earlier in the race), barely missing. Said bumper hit another driver, but fortunately, no bodily harm was inflicted on either of them.
And it gets worse. After the race, both he and his father tackled Ippolito hard at parc ferme, and it took many drivers and staff to break up the fight.
General response seems unanimous on Twitter, DriveTribe and Reddit: "what an utter prick", with calls for a lifetime ban echoed by the likes of Jenson Button. Even more shamefully, Corberi's dad owns South Garda Karting in Lonato, where this race is held. Reeks of bloody privilege. Felipe Massa is now being tapped to investigate the incident, having been in attendance in this race.
I leave you with a reminder to just keep your emotions to yourself, whether you're on the road or the track. Getting angry and venting it like this will, at the very least, get you nowhere.
[UPDATE 17:45UTC: I've added more information on the driver Corberi hit, edited some information, and posted a new video showing the post-race altercation. Extra sources from THE RACE]
