Petronas SRT Yamaha started off well in post-season MotoGP test at Valencia with Fabio Quartararo quickest and Franco Morbidelli in third.

Quartararo was quickest with a 1m30.163s lap as Yamaha factory rider Maverick Vinales (1m30.327s) slotted in between him and the other Petronas SRT of Morbidelli (1m30.650s) in a Yamaha 1-2-3 to open Day 1 of the Valencia MotoGP test.

Even though Quartararo topped the standings, the Frenchman caused the day's last red flag after a fall at Turn 10 late in the day. The Petronas SRT riders ran a new aerodynamic package, whiles Vinales ran the 2020 M1 with new chassis and engine.

Ducati's Andrea Dovizioso was fourth after running a new chassis all-day long among few other new parts with Honda's Marc Marquez in fifth. The reigning MotoGP champion was forced to revert to the 2019 bike after he damaged the 2020 spec in a Turn 10 crash.

The Suzuki pair followed with Joan Mir in sixth from Alex Rins as they ran the new chassis and engine, as KTM's Pol Espargaro ended up eighth with a new steel-body chassis ahead of Yamaha's Valentino Rossi and Pramac Ducati's Jack Miller in the Top 10.

Miller ran his 2019 machine as LCR Honda's Cal Crutchlow was 11th as his 2019 bike was run by Honda's new recruit Alex Marquez, who crashed it at Turn 10 during his first runs on a MotoGP machine. Ducati's Danilo Petrucci was 12th but only did 10 laps.

The Italian faced shoulder problems after the fall during Valencia MotoGP race. He led Tech 3 KTM's Iker Leucona with Aprilia's Andrea Iannone 14th as he ran the 2019 machine with few new parts, while Avintia Ducati's Tito Rabat ended up 15th.

The other Aprilia of Aleix Espargaro was 16th as KTM test rider Dani Pedrosa was 17th ahead of Ducati test rider Michele Pirro and Aprilia's test rider Bradley Smith, who returned to the track after a heavy fall at Turn 9 earlier in the day.

MotoGP newcomer KTM's Brad Binder was 21st with Honda test rider Stefan Bradl in 22nd, who damaged the 2020 machine in a crash at Turn 10 as well. The standings was rounded out by Alex Marquez in 23rd as Honda managed to repair his crashed bike.
