Razlan Razali apologizes to Petronas for his statements

The former Petronas SRT executive said he was sorry for some comments regarding the oil company

It was 2019 when Razlan Razali, owner of the Malaysian Petronas SRT team that participated in the Moto3 and Moto2 championships, decided to also enroll in MotoGP with the support of Yamaha. With the drivers Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Quartararo there were immediately numerous, so much so as to conclude the championship reserved for teams in fourth place.

2020 was the best year ever with a second-place finish thanks to six wins and a good number of podium finishes, but due to the devastated effects of the global pandemic on the economy, Petronas was forced to reduce funds by allocate to Razali's company. The 2021 season had unsatisfactory results and this led the Team Principal to accuse the oil company of being the cause of this, especially blaming Anita Azrina Abdul Aziz, director of strategic communications.

These statements have sparked the ire of Petronas and today Razali publicly apologized by admitting his responsibility for the catastrophic year. With the withdrawal of Petronas, the Malaysian entrepreneur has struck a deal with energy company WithU to have support until 2026.
