A recent trip to a local automotive swap meet resulted in a gem of a find. My son and I stumbled upon this traditional go kart (minus engine, brakes, and a seat) for $30. We couldn't pass it up, much to the chagrin of Mom waiting at home.

Can we get it Dad? Can we? Please. Please. Please. Please. Please. Please.

We stripped it down, chiseled off decades of rust and gave 'er a fresh coat of paint. Today we took advantage of a discount at the local Harbor Freight discount tool store and found a 6 HP engine.

Whether a small block V8 or a 6hp go kart engine, there is nothing quite like putting an engine in.

Next we'll build a simple seat and take her out for an maiden test drive. Stay tuned!

    • Hey, I'm curious how that motor has worked out for you? I'm about to restore an old Go-Kart and am considering buying one of those Predator motors from Harbor Freight.

      • Hey there Tyn. You can't beat the price. The centrifugal clutch I picked up from Amazon. It's just wild enough for adults, and tame enough for my kids. It will break traction on concrete with me, so plenty of power. Have fun and be safe!
