Renault Sport will now be known as Alpine
All the high-performance Renaults will now wear the Alpine badge
Renault Sport has changed its name to Alpine. The French carmaker claims that this name change is "part of the creation of the Alpine Business Unit."
This means that the Renault Sport name is completely dead with it not being on cars or on the F1 grid with Renault re-branding its Formula 1 team and placing it under the 'Alpine Business Unit'.
The new 'Alpine Business Unit' now constitutes Alpine, Renault Sport and all of Renault's motorsport operations. From now, all the high-performance Renault (like the Megane R.S.) will wear the Alpine badge.
The all-new Alpine range will consist of an electric hot hatch, an electric crossover, and an electric sportscar which will be developed in collaboration with Lotus.
Laurent Rossi, Alpine’s CEO, said: “As part of the reorganisation of the Renault Group by brand, it is essential that the various entities that make up the Business Unit bear the Alpine name and embody the values and ambitions of the brand. Alpine aims to be a premium sports brand at the forefront of innovation and technology. Alpine Cars with its expertise and experience in sports vehicles is a master card in achieving our goals.”
