Car manufacturers are gradually betting on India, a booming market which is not experiencing the crisis. And in this emerging country, motorists have the same tastes as in the rest of the world: they clearly want SUVs! It is therefore vital to have a bunch of SUVs in the range to hope to shine on Indian soil.
Renault has understood this very well by launching the Duster in 2012, which is still leading an honorable career. The vehicle was followed by the Kwid mini SUV presented in 2015 which is a huge hit in India. Its extremely modest price, its record habitability and its crossover look are the reasons for its overwhelming success.
The French brand is going to continue this momentum by announcing the arrival of the Kiger, a new small SUV, for January 28th. Renault has published a first teaser showing the vehicle in the dark. We find elements very close to the Kwid such as the two stage headlights, the roof bars and the particularly marked rear shoulders.
The daytime running lights are no longer linked together as in the concept. Instead, the headlights keep the full LED technology of the showcar. It is therefore understandable that the Kiger will be more upscale than the Kwid even though it will share the same CMF-A platform. The Renault Kiger will be produced in India, in Oragadam.
