Renault teases the new Mégane E-Tech Electric
It will be unveiled at the end of the year
At the end of the year, Renault will present an important new product that will set the roadmap for the brand in the years to come. It is the Mégane E-Tech Electric, an electric compact car that will compete head-on with the Volkswagen ID.3, Hyundai Kona Electric and above all the future small Tesla.
Contrary to what you might think, the car is an entirely new model and not just an electric version of the current Mégane. It will therefore have its own design, largely inspired by the Mégane eVision Concept. The car will feature a dynamic body halfway between a compact car and an SUV.
The French carmaker is actively preparing the arrival of the vehicle with a handful of teaser photos. For example, the Mégane E-Tech Electric will adopt the brand's new logo for the first time. The interior features a portrait format touchscreen alongside a digital instrument cluster.
Renault adds that the infotainment system has been developed in collaboration with Google. The compact car will be based on the CMF-EV platform already used by the Nissan Ariya and will offer three battery sizes: 40, 60 or 87 kWh for ranges of between 180 and 340 mi (300 and 550 km). The Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric will go on sale in early 2022.
