Renault unveils the first images of the Mégane E-Tech Electric

A design faithful to the Mégane eVision concept

6d ago

After presenting us a part of the Mégane E-Tech Electric's interior, Renault is now unveiling the vehicle's entire exterior. Still camouflaged, the electric compact car reveals shapes that resemble those of an SUV. The front end is particularly vertical and features the brand's new logo.

The headlights are extremely slim and form a wave like the Mégane eVision concept. The profile shows a very narrow glazing accompanied by concealed door handles. Note the pronounced Clio-style shoulders. The rear section features a small window with a large spoiler.

On the technical front, the French carmaker confirms that the Mégane E-Tech Electric will have a 217 PS electric motor coupled to a 60 kWh lithium-ion battery for a range of 280 mi (450 km). A version with around 150 PS will be offered as an entry-level model. The Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric will be presented in the coming weeks.

  • Another hunch shouldered 'me too' SUV thing. There seems to be a small pool of new styling features from which all but a few manufacturers draw their next people-mover design from. It'll probably be entirely inoffensive and do a decent job, but I'm getting rather bored of this same old same old. It's like those three flying ducks and the green lady picture, who were the staple of every home in your granny's day, or bull bars on everything only sporting a boring old bumper in your dad's day... all a bit ugh and predictable.
