Retro Porsche Neunelfer gets a Tesla electric motor
At the Sema Show StreetFighter LA’s latest project was on display and it was electric. The 1977 Tesla Powered Porsche 911 is quoted as making 563ewhp - electric wheel horsepower. This is comparable to say a car making 700hp at the crank! Not to mention the instant torque!
Of course, the sound of the iconic Porsche flat-six is missing but the power to weight of this 911 is quite amazing. Considering the 1977 911 weighs in at a lot less than a modern Tesla.

Porsche has invested heavily in its electric future. They are preparing the launch of the Taycan electric vehicle next year. The 911 being electric or hybrid is still some time away, but it may happen. Although, Purists would hope this is not true, or when it does electric/hybrid is not the only power choice available in the ever increasing 911 range.
The project a result of a team effort With StreetFighter LA, RWB impresario Akira Nakai and EV West. EV West has been building high-powered electric sports cars in the U.S. for the last few years. They may be the best known name in electric conversions in the U.S. Akira Nakai is the founder of Japanese tuning shop Rauh Welt Begriff (RWB), known for their custom bodywork for air cooled 911s.

The result is a unique and exciting electric 911 “E-RWB”, powered by a Tesla Motor. Apparently, the EV West conversion requires no modifications to the 911 body or the chassis. The factory mounting holes in the engine bay are used retaining its integrity and classic value.

Is StreetFighter LA’s E-RWB more than just another wild SEMA build? As speedhunters discussed in their article, the E-RWB could be a real insight into the future of modifying cars and car culture. Maybe electric cars don’t need to be boring. Well Said !
