Hey everyone! I'm back at it again with the car reviews. This time, I thought I would take a look at another rust bucket since everyone is so focused on Range Rovers and Ferraris these days. I mean we get it, they're amazing... moving on...
LET'S TAKE A LOOK AT THIS 2002 PONTIAC SUNFIRE!
SPECS
The 2002 Pontiac Sunfire comes with a 2.2L engine with a whopping 115 hp. This particular car has over 222000KM on it with no engine replacement. In fact, nothing in this car has really been replaced apart from the fuel pump after 13 years of usage, along with the brakes and the A/C compressor.
For a compact car, it is incredibly spacious. There is a ton of leg room in the back and the boot can hold more than you think! This Pontiac has served as a reliable family car its entire life, chauffeuring around 3 kids and pets on the daily. I think that is pretty impressive!
LOOK AT THAT SMILE
As reliable as this car has been, this car looks just a little too happy. It reminds me of someone who appears to be on the breaking point, but when you ask them what's wrong, they just look at you and scream, "NOTHING!" 😬 I personally like aggressive looking cars. Cars that look like they will eat you if you turn your back on them. Did I just give you nightmares?
DOES 2 COME BEFORE 1?!
This Pontiac is a 5 speed manual transmission with a crazy gearbox. What I mean by this is that it has become pretty loose with age and there is a lot of play between the gears. It also forces you to shift into second before you shift into first. Compared to my own car, the pedals are extremely light so it can be difficult to get a good feel for them. It's not really a big deal, just takes a bit more focus than usual!
ORGANIC SHAPE
This car certainly has its own organic shape. And no, I don't mean organic in the same sense as how the Huayra Roadster looks like it was beautifully crafted to reflect the natural lines of a flower or flowing water. In this case, I am referring more to how the car is being naturally dissolved by rusting out. On the bright side, no other Sunfire will look exactly like yours!
THAT WING THO
That down-force.... at the speed you're travelling, how could you ever get a Sunfire without a wing? It transforms the look from saying "normal car" to "flashy red sports car," am I right? Maybe I should be the first person to drag race a Sunfire. With this wing, I could easily blend into the car meet-up crowd.
BLAST OFF!
While you're still contemplating the wing, I thought I would mention how at highway speeds, it literally sounds like you're blasting off. The wind noise inside the cabin is insane! Especially at the back. Although it's old and the seals along the windows are in serious need of replacements, Sunfires just don't seem to be that great in this department, even when they're new.
OTHER QUIRKS
The interior is all plastic so it has really started to wear down over time. Everything inside makes strange noises while on the road when the sun begins to heat up the plastic dashboard. There is also no back seat splitter which can be super annoying when trying to fit strollers and kids' toys in the back. Lastly, the cup holders are in front of the climate control dials. This means that you have to move your coffee whenever you want to adjust the temperature.
And that's it! What did you think of my review? Which car should I do next? Let me know in the comments!
I also did a similar post on a 2008 Nissan Altima so go check that out! 😉

Hey! 😣
You didn't mention anything about it's 150hp variant. Should have no problem putting that spoiler to good use
Yea, I figured I would just stick to talking about the one I had ☺️
This is the Grand Am I told you about, just a crappy side view though, I'll do the whole photo shoot later lol
Nice! It seems surprisingly similar. Funny that you got a ride in it today.
So i just uploaded the whole photo shoot to my page if you're interested
