Rich Energy Leaving F1?

6w ago

Rich Energy have always been a bit of weird one for me. Firstly setting their sights on challenging Red Bull, Fair enough, Saying their the best energy drink company in the world?, But when the drinks are really hard to find, and probably don't taste great, kind of hard to admit that.

But this next one takes the biscuit. Yesterday Rich Energy announced they are leaving F1 as Haas's Title Sponsor, through a tweet, Rumoured to be by Rich Energy's CEO William Storey. Who to say the least is a bit weird. Stating:

"Today Rich Energy terminated our contract with Haas F1 for poor performance"

They Continued ...

"We aim to beat Red Bull & being behind Williams in Austria is unacceptable".

- Rich Energy Twitter Account

They also went on to say that F1 is inhibiting their business because of the " PC attitude and Politics" of Formula One

To be honest its fine if they wanted to leave F1 due to Haas's performance. But I think the way they did it is entirely unprofessional and gives Haas a bad reputation amongst future sponsors. However we don't know if there was a certain performance clause in the contract and things like that. At the end of the day we just read the Headlines.

But in the build up the the British GP, Guenther Steiner (Haas Team Boss), said that " Rich Energy is Currently the Title Sponsor of Haas F1" followed with,

“Rich Energy is currently the title partner of Haas F1 Team.

Guenther Steiner, Team Principal

"I cannot comment further on the contractual relationship between our parties

Due to commercial confidentiality"

So it seems that at the moment Haas still have a sponsor in Rich Energy? I guess so. But this story takes another turn. Earlier today news broke out that Rich Energy's Investors were trying to keep the sponsorship deal between Rich Energy and Haas F1.

One Source at MOTORSPORT.COM Said that "The deal is not terminated and William has no authority to do so. The investors are trying to clear up the PR mess."

So now it remains to been seen that the Rich energy and Haas partnership will breakdown. Hopefully not, as i would love to see Haas getting a little bit more money in terms of sponsorship so the little American team can make their way up the grid.

Whats going to happen first, a Haas Podium or William Storey getting fired?

Let me know in the comments.
