Richard Hammond almost got eaten by a shark
The chance encounter was enough to scare Richard and Tori out of the water
Richard Hammond doesn't have the greatest track record when it comes to filming disasters, but it seems that bad luck is now rubbing off on 'The Great Escapists' co-star Tori Belleci, after the pair had a rather terrifying encounter with a shark while filming their new show.
As part of a task to build their 'getaway' craft to leave the island, the pair built a home-made raft using the materials they had at hand. Naturally, it was a little rough around the edges, but they weren't prepared for what happened next.
The craft sadly suffered from "some issues" while around half a mile from the coast of their island, off the coast of Panama. This meant that their creation started sinking, meaning the pair were quickly treading water rather than pedalling themselves to freedom.

According to Hammond, the pair then had an encounter with a shark "the size of a school bus" which, naturally, prompted them to get out the water ASAP.
Thankfully, the film crews' boat was nearby to allow them to get to safety, as the shark "shot out of the water like a missile" scaring the pair senseless.
However, it turned out that the shark was a harmless Whale shark, which isn't known for eating humans - meaning Tori and Richard were perfectly safe.
According to Hammond, they were "very brave and very tough" despite not being in any real danger.
He also said that "the possibility of death" was with them at all times while filming their new Amazon Prime show, the trailer of which you can see above.
