Richard Hammond & James May Talk Retirement & Their Eventual Replacements
Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond are some of the most entertaining people on television, but even they know that they're not getting any younger. As the saying goes; all good things must come to an end.
In an interview with The Sun, Richard and James talk about getting up there in age and when they might hang up the boots for good (hint: not anytime soon). Richard had somthings to say about the rigors of filming:
"Every year we’ve got to ramp it up. There is that expectation that if you’re making long form television you’ve got to somehow each year deliver bigger, better, brighter. That’s the way of it.
Time will come when we run out of steam and can’t do that. But I’m pleased to say we can still do it."
When asked about when they think they'll call it day, Richard replied:
"The moment we feel we can’t we wouldn’t want to do it. If we couldn't step back and say we’re really proud of that. ..The moment we feel that we can’t ,or people tell us that it isn’t. Then we’d stop doing it."
So who might eventually replace the boys? Interestingly enough, the answer is sitting literally in front of you; like, right on your screen this very moment.
"Someone will make stuff that is funnier, cleverer, more relevant. They will post it on DriveTribe and the machine itself will distribute it to the maximum number of people.
It will make its own stars."
So, which one of you will be the next Clarkson, May, or Hammond?
