Richard Hammond recently took a trip to the JCB HQ in Rocester and JCB Heavy Products in Uttoxeter to take control of JCB's newest 20-tonne tracked excavator. It's the first of their new X series with an operating weight of 24,743kg, a 1.25m³ maximum bucket capacity, and is said to be incredibly reliable and rugged. You wouldn't expect any less after its £110 million development programme.
Richard also got behind the wheel of the new Fastrac 8000 Series tractor which is said to be able to reach speeds of 70kmph - don't worry, no hill climbs were involved. He said this:
"It’s great to be here at JCB where the machines are so tough that I think even I will struggle to break anything.
"JCB is an iconic brand and when you think of engineering excellence, boldness and innovation, these big yellow machines are right up there with the best."
Michael Plummer, JCB's worldwide marketing director said: "Richard has driven many vehicles over the years and we are delighted that JCB’s machines have been put through their paces by such a well-respected authority in the motoring world."
We all know how Richard loves his farm machinery, so I bet he was over the moon when he was invited to test out some of the heavy hitters from the JCB catalogue!

I am surprised he didn't run around the JCB factory like a child. Or did he?
He must have crashed himself then
Oh boy for some reason I feel Richard is going to break something even if he says he can't
