Rivian demonstrates the R1T's great off-road capabilities

The vehicle will also be at ease on the road

The war will be tough in the next few years in the sporty pickup truck market. Ford will soon introduce the new generation F-150 Raptor and RAM will also be unveiling the Rebel TRX in the coming months. On the electric side, many are waiting for the promising Tesla Cybertruck.

Rivian has obviously not said his last word and is demonstrating the R1T's off-road capabilities in a video. The R1T is set in isolated areas of Arizona where the terrain is rugged and dusty. The vehicle is covered in an original camouflage that is reminiscent of camping and adventure.

In spite of quite difficult conditions, the R1T seems at ease and climbs steep and slippery slopes without any problem. The electric pickup truck also has another secret trick, the Tank Turn, which allows the vehicle to turn on itself to do half turns in tiny spaces.

At the end of the video, the R1T goes back to the asphalt and makes some nice drifts, proving that fun will be present on and off the road. In its most powerful version, the Rivian R1T offers around 700 bhp and a range of 400 miles (640 km), which is comparable to the Tesla Cybertruck which will undoubtedly be its biggest rival.

  • Honestly, if I had to choose between the Cyber truck and the RT1, I would go for the RT1. At least it doesn't look like it's drawn by a 2 year old

  • I think the R1T has all the right stuff, beats the hell out of Tesla and probably the rest too!

  • Hmm i think a Ford can do better but the R1T isn't very focused on off-road so i think it's pretty good 👍

  • Go off road and no place to charge your golf cart.

  • I’ll stick with a Cummins Diesel. Then I won’t have to worry about Range Limitations.
