Rivian is already working on six new models
Even though they technically haven't delivered their first vehicle yet
The Rivian truck and SUV were unveiled a couple of years ago and they were mostly well received by the media and the public. Two years later Rivian, just like other manufacturers including Tesla, is struggling to actually get the cars on the road but they're still thinking big. They're working on six new models and they've already trademarked new names for them.
According to the Rivian Owners Forum - apparently already very active - the American truck maker applied for six new trademarks with the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) on July 23, 2021 : R3S, R4S, R5S, R3T, R4T, and R5T. Based on the company’s naming scheme, the ‘S’ models are likely to be SUVs while the ‘T’ models are trucks.
In the meantime, deliveries of the 2022 Rivian R1T have been delayed until August at the earliest but, despite these production issues, the brand continues to gain traction with multi-billion-dollar investments coming left and right, including from big names such as Ford and Amazon.
Competition is hotting up for Rivian and Tesla with the GMC Hummer and the Ford F-150 Lightning. Even Chevy is working on an electric version of the Silverado. Personally, based on looks alone, I'd have the Rivian, even though I gotta admit I actually like the Cybertruck. What do you think?
