Rivian R1T EV Truck Sells Out in Less Than a Week
Launch Edition moves out of factory as fast as it can move off the starting line
In this day and age, electric startups are ever so common but very few have what it takes to be successful long term. Rivian, one of these startups, has been said to have a lot of potential and it appears that may be right. Last week Rivian announced its R1T pickup truck has sold out - despite only unveiling its first iteration, or "Launch Edition," last week.
The Launch Edition comes with 300+ miles of range but will soon be able to be ordered with a higher or lower range battery. The R1T can also configured with up to 750 horsepower and 829 pounds/feet of torque good for a 0-60 time as quick as three seconds, the same as a 2019 Porsche 911 GT3 RS.
Rivian's configuration website is only available to those who have pre-ordered the R1T and the company hasn't announced the number of first edition R1Ts to be manufactured. We can only guess it won't be a large number.
If were one of the lucky people who managed to secure a preorder for the R1T, a configurator website will been available once you make the $1000 deposit. For us in the non-ordering general public, we will have to be satisfied with drooling over the electric truck's insane specifications.
Here's what Rivian had to say when they broke the news on Twitter:
"Thank you to our community of preorder holders for all the support and excitement — Launch Edition reservations are now full. Early configurator access continues for preorder holders to build our Adventure and Explore packages. Public configurator access begins 11/23 at 9AM PST."

Edit: As of November 23, the Rivian R1T configurator website is available to the public; you can access it here.
