Rivian's first electric truck takes on a 10-day off-road rally
That's one way to break in your brand new truck
There's no better way to show the world that you have faith in your vehicle that to take it on a back-breaking 10-day off-road rally challenge. That just so happens to be exactly what Rivian did with their R1T truck.
Rivian's R1T truck is their first, all-electric pickup truck scheduled to come out in 2021. The R1T sports a pretty impressive spec sheet with a quad-motor system that puts out up to 750 HP and a 0-60 time of 3 seconds. Rivian also built this truck for adventure with a range of 400+ miles, a wading depth of over 3 feet for crossing rivers and a max towing capacity of 11,000 lbs.
These adventure specs will be put to the test in the Rebelle Rally. The Rebelle Rally is a 2,000 km long, all-female off-road rally that started on Thursday, October 8th. This is the first time a fully electric vehicle has competed in the rally.

The two drivers for Rivian are Emme Hall, an editor at CNET's Roadshow and television producer Rebecca Donaghe. The pair won the Rebelle Rally crossover class in 2019 with a Rolls-Royce Cullinan. They also won overall in 2018 with a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon.
According to Roadshow, the Rebelle Rally partnered with Power Innovations to provide 175-kilowatt fast-charging stations along the route and at the rally's base camp. That should help keep the R1T powered all the way to the finish line. Check out the official Rebelle Rally website to keep up with the event.
