Road ready: Welly 1/24 Porsche 959
The 80s supercar that is always ready for the road
What’s your favorite 1980s supercar? Ferrari F40 and Lamborghini Countach are the most talked about. But who’s in 3rd? Here’s an answer: the Porsche 959. This car is so ready for a race that it only has one mirror! Read on if you want to learn about this racing machine.
The side view of the 959
The side of this car has one huge noticeable difference then from the other side. The mirrors! This car only has a mirror on the left side for aerodynamics. The front wheel looks pretty cool and you can just see inside of how the brake works. I also really like the 5 spoke detail. There is also the Porsche logo in the middle which just shows the precision of this diecast. There is also a small brake light behind it. You then have this door with a tiny door handle so it makes it somewhat tricky to open the doors with the windows there. This is a 4 seater so the rear window is larger than on 2 seater cars. Then is the gas cap which is somewhat positioned weirdly. You then have a intake with no spot for air, so I don’t know why it is there. The final rear part of the car is actually pretty long but gives this Porsche a signature design. You can then see the grille which is on the rear, (because it’s a Porsche) and then above that is the brake light. There is also the spoiler which you can slightly see.
The front view of the Porsche
This is one of those cars that looks like it has eyes. In my opinion I think it looks like an owl. There are also some pretty distinctive lines that divide the hood from the front of the car. There are also some intakes which give the car a nice look. The famous Porsche logo must be on a car like this. You can also see the pretty large windshield wipers which don’t really move on the model but still a good touch. There is also another circle shape on the hood which I don’t know why it is there. You also see the difference of having only one mirror.
The rear view of the Porsche 959
Ever seen a Porsche? If you have then you know that most of them have large Porsche letters going across the rear taillight. You then have the spot were the license plate would go and below that 2 silver exhaust pipes. The curved spoiler actually fits pretty well with this car.
The Porsche 2.8 L flat-6
If you know Porsche you know that most use the rear engine flat-6. Obviously this is one of them. This one is turbocharged for extra power. The stuff it puts out is 444 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. While it doesn’t sound like much today for a supercar back then that was a wow! I like it how you can then see some silver around the small engine. I’m also happy the engine even opens on this because on my other Porsche model it doesn’t.
The classic Porsche interior
I’m actually pretty proud of my photography on this photo here. I’m surprised the interior of this car actually has AC considering it doesn’t even have 2 mirrors. You also can see the 6 speed manual which is cool to see on a classic Porsche. Of course the interior isn’t that nice but hey, this isn’t no Rolls Royce, it’s a high performance machine.
Overall this is such a nice model. It might be my highest quality one yet! While my favorite classic Porsche is the 964, this has to be a close 2nd. Comment down below your thoughts on the Porsche 959 and thanks again for reading!
