Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton have a very well documented relationship having been teammates and Championship rivals at Mercedes from 2013 to 2016 with Rosberg finally getting the upper hand, winning his first and only world title in 2016 before shocking the F1 world with retirement shortly after.

Hamilton has dominated F1 since the introduction of the 'Turbo Hybrid Era' in 2014, his only blip coming in 2016 when he lost out to teammate Nico. On this achievement Nico said "I am very proud that I beat him in the same car."

Rosberg recently spoke to Dutch outlet E-Formel in an exclusive interview vowing to reignite the rivalry now that they both own teams in 'Extreme E', the FIA sanctioned off-road racing series that race in remote parts of the world. Rosberg and Hamilton have both entered their own teams for the inaugural 2021 season with 'Rosberg Xtreme Racing' and 'Team X44' respectively. Driving for RXR is World Rallycross triple world champion Johan Kristoffersson and 2016 Australian rally champion, Molly Taylor. For Team X44 Hamilton has employed the services of legendary 9 time World Rally Champion, Sebastian Loeb and up and coming talent, Cristina Gutiérrez.

On the topic of the on-track reunion Rosberg told E-Formel "I am all the more pleased that our paths will now cross again after four years. And not as a driver, but as a team founder. We'll take up our fight again in Extreme E. This time not only to win races, but also to counter climate change."

Will you be watching Extreme E? Who do you think will come out on top between the two former rivals turned team owners?

  • Rosburg is just bitter. He couldn’t take the pressure and left the team after 1 championship.

I don’t know why Hamilton is even entertaining NR’s childish BS. Like I said before LH should move to USA and join american racing groups. If he leaves Mercedes i hope he joins HAAS and move to US.

  • I think Rosberg having been on and in the scene for longer gives him and his team the upper hand.
