CELEBRATIONS for Royal Enfield’s 120 year anniversary continue with the release of the updated Himalayan adventure bike, with the 2022 model set to hit Australian dealership floors next week.

Highlighting the upgrades to the Himalayan are three new additional colourway options as well as the Tripper turn-by-turn navigation system (delivered via Google Maps), which debuted earlier this year on the Meteor 350.

There’s also upgraded suspension, a new reinforced seat and sturdier bag rack upgrades. The new Himalayan also features switchable anti-lock braking. As for those new colours, the versatile adventure-tourer will now come in Granite Black (a mix of matte and gloss).

Additionally, Mirage Silver and Pine Green have also joined the existing colourways of Rock Red, Lake Blue and Gravel Grey. Now more capable and comfortable than ever, the Himalayan has been hugely successful.

Purpose-built and practical, the Himalayan debuted in 2016, and over the last five years has carved out a strong following, with more than 1,800 bikes on the trails in Australia and New Zealand alone.

A simple, capable and ‘go-anywhere’ motorcycle, the Himalayan was inspired by Royal Enfield’s experience of more than 50 years of riding across the Himalayas. Today it’s recognised as a truly capable adventure tourer.

“In a short span, the Royal Enfield Himalayan has opened up a new category within global adventure touring, has successfully established itself as a truly global motorcycle and has been among the most sought after motorcycles for Royal Enfield across several markets,” Royal Enfield’s APAC boss Vimal Sumbly said.

“Over the years, together with feedback from our riding community, we have consistently evolved the Himalayan in design and functionality, and improved the overall ride experience,” he added.

“This has resonated very well with millions of adventure enthusiasts across the world, who now have new variants to choose from. With today’s launch, we are confident to further fuel the adventure touring space across the world.”

The new Himalayan retains its original versatility and vigour, and makes the ride experience more engaging, with functional upgrades that enhance the bike, both on and off the road.

The 2022 Royal Enfield Himalayan will be available for order and test rides in Australia and New Zealand shortly, starting at $8,190 ride away down under, and $8,190 across the ditch. It now includes a 3-year 30,000km warranty and 3-years roadside assist.

In addition, a range of apparel and genuine motorcycles accessories inspired by the Himalayan, ensures that the rider also looks the part and is adventure ready.

In what’s expected to be a very well received announcement, Royal Enfield will also be conducting Himalayan adventure and off-road training in Australia and New Zealand in the near future. For further information, please contact your local Royal Enfield dealer.
