News has recently been leaked about the new Z car from Nissan. These leaks include the name of the car, the price, and some options and changes that will differ from the Z Prototype.
The leaks come from the 400Z club from a user under the name of Houston.Z35. He claims to have, "A lot of family in Tennessee", although he doesn't specify where or how they are related to Nissan. Nissan's U.S. Headquarters is in Nashville, and Nissan sponsors just about every major venue in the area so it's possible that people in the Nashville area may have some information that hasn't released yet. That said, all these claims are leaks/rumors and are not confirmed.
Name
The Automotive community has been calling the 370Z's successor the '400Z', but according to Houston.Z35's leak, this will not be the name of the car. Nissan is supposedly going to simply name the model, "Nissan Z", for global markets, while they will still use the Fairlady Z nameplate in Japan.
Prices & Standard equipment
According to the leaks, the new Z is supposedly going to start just below $35,000. This about 8 grand cheaper than the 2.0 4-cylinder Supra and a whopping $16k cheaper than the 3.0 Supra. Every new Z will come with the 400hp VR30DDTT engine, digital dashboard (similar to the Z Proto), Android Auto/Apple Car Play, and the rear duckbill spoiler that was seen on the silver two-tone and gunmetal grey models that were leaked a few days ago. The base car's dry weight is supposedly 3252lbs (1475kg).
The Duckbill Spoiler will apparently be standard on all new Z production moels
Trim/Packages
According to the leaker, there will be two trim packages for the car. An S package is the sports package that will come with upgraded cooling, upgraded sway bars, a big Brembo brake package among other unspecified features. There is also a T package. This one is the luxury package that comes with leather, power seats that are also are heated/cooled, auto cruise control (I think that means adaptive cruise control), blind-spot warning systems, and more. There is also Z Nismo that is in the future plans.
Other Options:
The new Z will have 2 transmission options. The first one is the six-speed manual that will be carried over from the 370Z, and thanks to Nissan's collaboration projects with Mercedes the automatic will be the torque converter Mercedes-Benz 9G-Tronic 9-speed transmission instead of the rumored Jatco 7-speed or ZF 8-Speed.
The Z color options have also been leaked. All 2020 370Z colors will carry over to the first year of the new model, as well as the yellow that was seen on the Z Proto, and their new orange which I'm guessing is similar to if not Monarch Orange Metallic as found on the 2020 Sentra. Houston also said that Nissan was going crazy on 240Z nostalgia on the new Z, so other heritage colors might come down the line as well.
Production Information:
Houston kept referring to the car as the 2022 Nissan Z. This implies that it should be a 2022 model year car with the potential of the car to go on sale this fall or around this time next year. He says there are 3 production models. A white and black two-tone with the manual which hasn't been spotted yet, and then the silver and black two-tone car and the gunmetal grey car that was leaked a few days ago. Both of those cars were fitted with the 9-speed automatic.
