Mock ye not. It wasn't that long ago, subjectively, that Brits were driving Ford Cortinas sitting on tea chests and steering with mole grips - which was bloody dangerous as I've yet to meet a late model Cortina that didn't follow every old trench in the road because its bushes were stuffed. I do believe that suspension bushes for Cortinas came pre-distressed, like jeans.
