Russian Malware Threatened To Devastate Tesla Security

Blackmail and bribery was the plan. The story of how cheapest and greed landed a Russian in an American jail.

Tesla Employee and the Russian

A Tesla employee met with a man named Egor Igorevich Kriuchkov in 2016, the two apparently had a harmless get-together and nothing of any interest had taken place. Four years have passed and Egor found himself in the land of the free once again, apparently on vacation. He arranged for another meeting with the Tesla employee in Reno, NV. The two met once again but this time with a proposal. A group of Russians have created a malware with $250,000, the malware was designed to apprehend Tesla files and other sensitive data from the Tesla database. He then offered the Tesla employee a dismal $500,000 to release the malware into the Tesla computer network. The plan was to obtain sensitive data from Tesla, then threaten to release or sell the data if Tesla was unwilling to pay a hefty price to re-obtain it.

The employee pretended to show interest in the proposal however, he actually contacted the FBI after their first meeting. The Tesla employee then had follow up meetings with Egor, wile being watched by the FBI. The employee negotiated with the Russian to try to secure $1,000,000 instead of the original $500,000. Egor later stated his team was working on obtaining data from another company and the job would have to be done during the fall. Therefore, his team can focus on one company at a time. After the meetings and the FBI gathering evidence, Egor attempted to fly back to Russia in Los Angeles. However, the FBI then charged and arrested Egor prior to him leaving American soil. If he is found guilty he may spend the next 5 years of his life in a penitentiary.

The Universe Tends To Unfold As It Should

To me there is more to this story than meets the eye. I find it suspicious that the two met back in 2016. However, the Tesla employee showed loyalty and realized he was in over his head. Contacting the FBI was a smart move and he can enjoy his freedom and lifestyle provided by his job at Tesla. After all, he came to America for equality and freedom, for the pursuit of happiness and the American dream. He can now rest easy after doing the right thing. Bribery and blackmail has no place in America and the Russian is now enjoying the company of Federal Agents.

  • I love how everyone blames Russia for hacking and stuff. But then again USA, Europe and China are the Tech advanced ones lol. Ehhh besides, Tesla deserves a good hack here and there.

  • That could have gotten real ugly. Elon would have gone out of his way to screw these guys and anyone else involved. He has a bit more than $250k to bankroll his activities.
