Salon Prive 2020: The Return Of Speed And Style

It's GOOD NEWS: In the wake of so many cancelled motoring events, Salon Prive is a ray of hope for manufacturers presenting new models in 2020.

Coronavirus really has been a bit of a nuisance. Not only can I no longer enjoy a refreshing bottle of a certain popular beer without thinking of the collapse of society, but it's also had a dramatic effect on the motor industry. Both the Geneva and Paris motor shows as well as the Goodwood Festival of Speed have had to be cancelled. This may seem trivial, however it has left a bit of a hole where the launching of new models is concerned. See the concept cars we know and love with their massive alloys and over sculpted styling simply haven't had a platform this year. Not only that, but the formal release of new cars from automotive giants has been largely postponed to a time when they can receive the glory they deserve. So then, that must mean no new car launches this year right? Wrong. Salon Prive will go ahead and go ahead in a big way. For those of you who need a refresher course in the event, pin your ears back, feast your eyes and allow me to explain just how magic this years event is going to be.

Salon what you say?

It's pretty, might even be E-type Jag Pretty.

It's pretty, might even be E-type Jag Pretty.

A brief rundown of what it is we're talking about. Imagine a garden party, the gazebo in your back garden, a few friends, plenty of beer and great food on the barbecue with your cars all parked up outside. That's the basic idea, but the garden in question is that of Blenheim Palace, the gazebo is a selection of giant marquee's, a few friends constitutes hundreds of people including press and celebrities alike, the beer is actually the finest champagne, food is provided by Michelin starred chef Phil Howard and the cars parked outside are millions of pounds worth of Ferraris, Aston Martins, Bentleys and Lamborghinis both old and new. Yes from the 23rd-26th September that is what'll be happening at Blenheim Palace - all adhering to social distancing of course (bloody virus).

What Exactly Will Be There?

Ferrari, Aston, Lambo, Bentley, Bugatti, Porsche, Morgan, Rimac - they're all going be there amongst a whole host of others to celebrate classic cars and launch new models. Confirmed so far is the launch of The New Stratos by Manifattura Automobili Torino, Morgan's 'new' Plus 4 70th Anniversary and for the EV Fanboys, the Rimac Concept2. Plus a flying car, so there really is something for everyone with more huge releases to be announced and over 1000 models on display.

Additionally there'll be opportunities to get cars in action on the track, meet some of the people behind automotive giants most notable offerings and explore other cultures that go hand in hand with cars - travel, aviation, fashion and so much more. Moreover, this years theme will be the evolution of the supercar, starting way back with the Miura in the 1960's and following it up to the monsters we all dream of owning today, meaning even more rarity and speed on show.

Salon also holds the famous Concours d'Elegance, the most highly anticipated and prestigious event of it's type. This presents a chance for the tidiest and rarest classics to take centre stage, so be ready to feast your eyes and ears.

To Round Up

Incredible food, great drinks, the most beautiful cars ever made, new models from your favourite manufacturers and all set in the grounds of one of the most beautiful properties in the UK. 23rd-26th September 2020, I'll be there, so if this wets your appetite - grab yourself a ticket and come say hi (from 2 metres or so).

  • I did not make it last year due to the conflict with the Concours of Elegance...then a friend mentioned he had his Ferrari 250 SWB on display 😂

I will be back this year, but here are 2018 photos when I was invited to attend. Great event.

  • How come we can’t buy tickets for the Classic and Supercar day on the website. I’ve seen all the action on the other days open up but I am unable to see the options for tickets on the last day. Does anyone know what’s up?
