Say hello to the Audi RS Q8, Audi's most powerful SUV
It was two years after the Q8's revelation that Audi's sports division decided to release a radical version of the SUV coupe, the RS Q8. The vehicle will be presented at the 2019 Los Angeles Motor Show. "Will be" since you're not supposed to see it yet....a leak has indeed ruined everything.
This RS Q8 has already caused a buzz even before its release, setting a new record in its category on the Nürburgring (7:42.253). The car was then heavily camouflaged. Today, the official presentation photos present the car with an original green colour and a particularly masculine style, especially at the front.
The front of the vehicle is made up of black honeycomb grilles. The frame is made of exposed carbon fibre. The latter is used at the rear for the headband connecting the lights. There are also thin lateral openings for better heat dissipation from the brakes. The oval exhaust tailpipes symbolize the spirit of Audi's RS models.
The overall design of the dashboard is based on the Q8, with some modifications giving a more sporty look here too. For example, there is a carbon strip at the bottom of the dashboard that extends over the storm doors. The alcantara steering wheel, RS logos, aluminium pedals and specific bucket seats complete the equipment.
Under the hood, the RS Q8 receives a 4.0L V8 gasoline engine from the RS6 Avant and RS7 Sportback. It is equipped with a 48V micro-hybrid system and develops a whooping 591 hp. All this cavalry is transmitted to the ground via the Quattro all-wheel drive system and an 8-speed automatic transmission. The RS Q8 does 0 to 62 mph in 3,8 seconds.
