Scavas: The little Greek sports car that could
Vasileios Scavas was an engineer, builder and a car designer. Having worked at Viamax(Greek company which used to make bodies for cars at the old times) and gained much needed experience, started in 1969 designing the Scavas , a prototype that he would do everything to make it road legal. The car was finally presented to the public in 1973 and after the help of Kostas Kavathas, the car got road permission but not production certification. The car had a naturally aspirated NSU 1200cc engine and some nice body lines, as shown in the picture. But Scavas wasn't done. After the first one, he started designing the second Scavas which was about to be the most beautiful car Greece has ever seen( built in home ground). The Scavas 2 was presented in 1992 and became immediately road legal but yet again the Greek government didn't let it become a production model. I guess we can't have nice things, right? Scavas last attempt to make a sports car was in 1997, the year when he designed the Scavas 3. But the third one didn't even came close to being road legal and production model as it remained just a design. Hope you liked that little story about the fairytale of Greece's nicest sports car. Also that's my first post in the app!
