Screaming 3 Rotor RX7 on Rod Millen´s Backyard

3 Rotor Racing races an Incredible 515Hp/10.00Rpm Mazda RX7 primarily on Time Attack. But once a year they try out Hillclimbing

With over 500Hp of Naturally Aspirated goodness from a 3 Rotor Wankel engine, this is one of the prime examples of how spectacular this type of engine can be. And screaming at over 10.000Rpm, the soundtrack can only be out of this world.. Check it out..

This Monster is originally built to compete on World Time Attack Challenge, on Open Class, where in 2016 it showed its last evolution with around 515Hp and using Nitrous Oxide to achieve even greater results.

But once a year they race on one of the most curious events on New Zealand: Leadfoot Festival. Pikes Peak Hill Climb legend Rod Millen hosts on his backyard an Hill Climb event of his own using a quite treacherous bit of road.

Narrow and full of traps, it makes this RX7 feel like a bull trapped in a small arena. But that only adds to the challenge and Andy Duffin (driver and owner of 3 Rotor Racing) seems to be more than up to it. But sometimes things can also go wrong and on 2017 there may have been a small crash.. But this Monster is certainly coming back. A fan favourite and a quite unusual Race Car for modern standards. And a personal favourite of your truly....
