SEAMEN'S AT ROYAL NAVY: "Getting near the “finished” point of 1950 80” 200di"
STEPHEN'S 80" UPDATE HERE - STARTED AT -8 C RECENTLY NAH GLOW PLUGS
"... my old air filter was too small, this new one has made a hell of a difference. Quieter too."
Simple as anything. No faff. I don’t even have a cooling fan. Standard radiator keeps it cool. Had the inlet and outlet moved and resized to match the engine. Simples.
"Air filter designed for earth movers, generators and industrial kit. They are disposable and made in the USA."
"Only had a quick 10 mile run. It’s quieter and a lot more neat. It draws air in from the rear so should be warmer as it’s from around the exhaust manifold. I’m happy with it." www.inlinefilters.co.uk/.../disposable/fdo-c065001
Air filter airflow is up to spec and the shroud should keep the element clean. You’ll need a heavy duty clamp.
"The 200 and 300Tdi units were very different in many ways to the 2.5 engine. They run great without the turbo. Bags of power, simple installation, standard manifolds, no intercooler to mount, no turbo, no oil feed pipes and I run with out cooling fan. I don’t want or need the power of a turbo. I can do 70mph on the gps and at 50-60mph I get 35mpg. I’m happy with it. It’s just like a good, new, powerful 2.25."
"Just welded a home made flange to a down pipe and used a manifold to turbo gasket. Been faultless so far. Will replace with a stainless set up when I’m happy."
"Just the wiring to sort now. It was all just put in to test. I’ll replace with braided PCV cables now I’m happy with how it works."

I'm not wearing a hood. Oh, you mean the bonnet! (I may be American but I speak Brit!)) [Ok, no really but I just couldn't resist.👹]
Motor Helmet is most appropriate.
I'd be disturbed about the lack of a fan, but I'm assuming you don't plan on being stuck in traffic. Nice work!
Take off the hood.
