'Hammond and May go to work' this article should be called. But as it is my job to keep you updated with The Grand Tour and all of its updates, this is quite a big one. Although there's no real information to go with it.

Richard Hammond and James May were photographed arriving at their Herefordshire HQ for their first day of Season 3 production. And they both look pretty focussed on the job in hand. Or maybe they just didn't know they were being photographed....

It was rumoured not long ago that Season 3 wouldn't happen, although that was quickly put to rest by Jeremy Clarkson who stated it was 'innacurate'. You can read about that further, here. Clarkson has also been pretty open about what's he's been up to in regards to Season 3 filming, by sharing photos of a Lamborghini Urus on Instagram and DriveTribe. Once again, you can read about that, here.

So while this wasn't such an information packed article, it confirms that Season 3 certainly is being produced, and that you don't have to worry about that. The worrying comes if Season 3 is finished and we still haven't heard about a new contract. But who really expects that to happen? i doubt it.

  • There was never any doubt about Series Three, except that stirred up by believers in the Daily Fail. The anxiety seems to be all over whether Amazon want it to carry on after the contracted 36 episodes.

My guess is this: Jeff's tat emporium will want TGT to carry on. It has probably snared more petrolheads into a Prime subscription than anything else. However, Wilman, Clarkson, Hammond and May are all starting to make noises, some of them creaky and a bit arthritic, about this all having to come to an end before bits start falling off. My own feeling is that ending the whole Last of the Summer Petrol journey on a high is something we actually want. There is only so much cocking about with cars nearby one can do before someone makes another art gallery in Middlesbrough episode and the gutter press jump all over it. Do we really want that?

Let's have the Series 3 special a bit like the Patagonia Special where they fill a stunning film with lots of in-jokes and recaps of past mirth. If it goes out on a high like that, I'll be happy.

JC: "That is a proud moment, Hammond, but is it straight?"

RH: (looking worried) "Yes, yes it is."

  • ‘Herefordshire HQ’ ? This new if so as their HQ is in London. These ill informed speculative newspaper stories need to stay as the chips wrappings which is all they’re good for.
