Season 3 Porsche Cup roundup
It's been a little while since my last post but it's the usual case of real life getting in the way of my virtual racing career and blogging about it!
So, some weeks ago now I was approaching the end of my first season in the Porsche iRacing Cup and, having missed a few weeks due to holidays and lack of content, I had 3 more weeks to make some mark on this series.
First up in the closing weeks was Spa Francorchamps. I managed to race in 3 races at this circuit with some mixed results. My first attempt was, to some degree, the most interesting and maybe the most successful, in terms for field progression. I'd been suffering in terms of my iRating and Safety Ratings in iRacing at the time, due to some poor racing performances, and had only managed to make the 3rd split of 4. Even in that split I was car #13 out of 20 cars, but this is a popular series and at certain times can attract some high flying racers.
I didn't qualify for this race, for reasons that escape me at the moment, so started on the grid in 19th position. As you will see from the video below, I managed to make some good progression through the field and ultimately finished in 9th, with an intense battle in the middle stages of the race.
My other attempts at the race were a little less interesting, the first of which saw me disqualified due to over driving. The other resulting in my best finish with a 4th place, from 5th, but the race itself was a fairly dull affair. I ran in 4th pretty much from the green light to the chequered flag, and mainly without any interaction with another car.
The following week was at Lime Rock but due to friends visiting and bank holiday weekend family activities, coupled with the usual end of the summer holidays cramming of family time, I managed one practice session and little else.
And so to the final week of racing, in this 12 week season. The climax of the season took us to Suzuka. I ended up doing quite a bit of practice at this circuit, mainly because I've been trying to get my streaming issues sorted so that I can live stream my races more often. In the end though I only managed one race in the week but it was a good one nevertheless.
I raced in this race with a friend and team-mate Stuart and we had a good little run with some close racing. Unfortunately, I sort of ruined my tyres a bit and lost out to him by the end of the race.
