Sebastion Vettel: Return to Red Bull Was Not an Option
The 4-time World Champion also believes Sergio Perez “deserves to be in a great car.”
Ahead of the French Grand Prix, Sebastian Vettel was asked if he had any regrets about not moving back to Red Bull from Ferrari during the pre-race press conference.
“No I don’t regret and I don’t think it was an option.” He said while sitting next to Red Bull’s Sergio Perez. “Obviously I decided to go in a new direction and join a new team with Aston Martin on a new journey and I’m very happy about that.”
Both Sergio Perez and Vettel have found their place in their new teams, with Perez taking his first win for Red Bull and Vettel scoring his first podium for Aston Martin.
When it was reveled that Vettel would be leaving Ferrari last year, many assumed he would return back to Red Bull, where he had achieved his four world titles. He eventually signed with Aston Martin, and Perez filled the vacant Red Bull Seat. Despite that, there is no ill feeling towards his former team.
“And in all honesty, and this I really mean from the heart, I’m very happy that Checo got a great seat because he deserves it. He’s shown it not just with a win but he’s shown it with the last 10 years or something like that, that he’s been in Formula 1, and he deserves to be in a great car.”
With the upcoming triple header, we’re sure to see a race as wild as the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
