Sedans in India are dying.
2011 to 2017, only sedans were leading this era and it was one of the best era in Indian automobile industry. It was because every car manufacturer was trying to do something new with its sedans. First it was the Hyundai verna in 2011. This car introduced some new features in mass car market like the push button start and keyless entry so it was the main selling point for the Hyundai verna. Then 2 Germans enter the market ( skoda and Volkswagen). Many people bought skoda rapid and Volkswagen vento because the both were new and they looked so cool back then. In 2014 Honda introduced the facelift version of the Honda city. The Honda city had first in segment features like the sunroof and the touchscreen infotainment system. Then after the honda city Suzuki released its ciaz. The main selling point for ciaz was maruti's trustworthy ddis and the tincan strategy. And I forgot to include these cars Nissan sunny (it's not a car it's a caaaar) and ford fiesta these both cars' sales were not good because they were too late to compete with their rivals. Then in 2017 maruti launched its brezza and Hyundai launched its creta and BOOM sedans are dead.
By this blog I can conclude that if the car manufacturers launch its sedans with some new features at a low price then there is a chance for them to come back .

  • Sedans aren't dead, atleast in india. The midsize sedan market is the one dying. You got like 2 cars only in that segment here.
