See what it's like to daily drive a Porsche 356

It's funny how the perfect blend of classic car flaws can actually result in perfection

If there's one thing we've learned so far on our Soulmates journey, it's that cars don't have to be perfect to fall in love with them. Actually, it often helps that a car isn't perfect. The more flaws a car has, the more character it has, and therefore the easier it is to fall in love with.

Maybe that is why it's easier to fall for a classic beauty like this 356 than it is modern cars. What do you think?

  • It is easier to fall in love with a grandfather clock than it is with a titanium NASA-engineered watch. That's the way of things.

    • Does the NASA watch scare the crap out of you as a child? I had a bad childhood grandfather clock experience.

    • I guess everyone has, haha.

Mine had a ding ding clock with pendulum, haha

  • True, old cars have more character, but I wouldn't daily drive them. It would be a nightmare!

    • All my dailys are and have been classics. Most of them are reliable, but you have to know what you're doing when driving them.

    • I had a near classic and man, without air-conditioning, power windows, normal fuel usage... It was just too much

  • I believe its is safe to say that that I am an avid fan of classic cars. I regularly visit classic car shows around the continent, and I am also fortunate to have a classic W123 at disposal due to the fact that a friend keeps it as daily and he often joins me for the trips using the car as a rather fitting means of transport. The car brings us to wide distances (Rteromobile was a 700 km trip, Techno Classica a bit less), and never broke down.

Yet I would not employ such vehicle as daily, and hence I clicked on the second option. 356 might sound tempting as a daily, but there are huge limitations.

  • Haha, I am a student and I drive a Suzuki wagonr(2005).

Earlier I had the Suzuki 800(1997&2002)but had to scrap them because of Green laws in Delhi.

Both of them don't have ETC and push pull cables for gear shifting.

The revv marching is always a beautiful experience. :D
