Seestrasse - Switzerland
The coastal road along the Thunersee (Thuner-Lake) really feels almost fjord-like, with high mountains around a beautiful lakeside.
This will be a short one and only with a Drivelapse and no Feature-Video. The time I visited the Seestrasse almost half of my desired route was a construction site. Together with that the weather seemed to change rapidly to the worst and the traffic on that day was horrible. So I decided to just get the drivelapse and then continue towards France.
The main reason was the construction site and the traffic though. I had overall maybe 2-3 corners, where I could dip my toe into the true taste of this beauty. The scenery though is absolutely stunning. You follow the eastern coast of the Thunersee and even gain a lot of height in between. In parts you drive at ca. 100-200m above the water surface and can gasp at the amazing apline view. It also features many rocky tunnels with cliffsides anf rockwalls hanging above the road.
So it definetly deserves to be here by the looks of it. In terms of driving, well it seems to be thrilling, when there's little traffic and no construction, but that is just an assumption and no first hand experience.
If anyone has driven it in better conditions, please leave your opinions in the comment. It has all the character to be truly unique among the alpine roads and, if the driving is as good as the road suggests, this is really worth a go if you're ever in the area.
