Shelby GT500 vs Ford GT: which one will win?
The answer on video!
The first examples of the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 have finally been delivered. Happy owners are savouring the sound of the 5.2L V8 and can now unleash the full power of the most powerful Mustang in history. Enough to allow it to challenge supercars for sure!
DragTimes just asked themselves the question and used two Shelby Mustang GT500s to challenge the Ford GT in a drag race. One of the muscle car is brand new with less than 40 miles on the odometer and is stock. The other one has a slightly revised engine cartography with about 90 hp more.
As a reminder, the Shelby Mustang GT500 hides under its hood a 5.2L V8 that produces a colossal 760 hp and 625 lb-ft of torque. According to Ford, the GT500 can do 0 to 62 mph in 3.5 seconds and do the quarter-mile in less than 11 seconds. Its top speed is electronically limited to 180 mph.
On the other hand, the Ford GT is equipped with a more modest engine. It's a 3.5L V6 that produces 647 hp and 550 ft-lb of torque. This allows the supercar to to 0 to 62 mph in less than three seconds and then reach the top speed of 216 mph. Despite a disadvantage on the data sheet, will the new Shelby Mustang GT500 be able to beat the GT in reality?
