  • That's like asking if teams need to maintain the same livery throughout their career. Having the same one can make it iconic, but it's their wish really.

    • Absolutely, my view is that it's a shame that the modern F1 drivers don't keep the same design like drivers did in the past which made them easily recognisable- Senna, Mansell, Piquet, Hunt etc. When you see their helmets, you know exactly...

  • Growing up,iconic helmet designs were one of the mix of things that drew me in and made me fall in love with the sport however back then they were a very prominent part of the car/driver package and easily seen. Now with vastly developed head restraints and halo the helmet is a very difficult to see thing. Also with modern pai ting techniques drivers have much greater choice of what is now essentially artwork to choose from instead of what was previously largely geometric designs. Yes I would love a driver to have a clear and instantly identifiable design but I just don't think that's important to them now, what I would say is I wish there could be a ban on advertising on helmets as I feel that really spoils the look, if drivers want to change designs all the time at least let us see them!

    • Yeah definitely, particularly the Red Bull/Alpha Tauri drivers who only have about half of the helmet for their own design!
