When thinking of Volvo, you may think of safety, big SUVs or family estate cars. One SUV you may not associate with Volvo is a compact SUV. This is designed to rival the BMW X1, Audi Q3 and Mercedes GLA. The Volvo XC40 is nothing like these other compact SUVs.
The Volvo XC40 is one of, if not the best looking car in its class. It looks so modern, but it is unmistakably a Volvo. It looks contemporary and is so obviously built to help bring Volvo to a younger generation. The "Thor Hammer" running lights add to the great look as do the LED taillights. On higher level models, the XC40 has a blacked out roof which makes it look even better.

The interior of the XC40 is a wonderful place to be. The doorbins are massive and the door is hollowed out, with the armrest sticking out. There is loads of room in the Volvo every model comes with an iPad like 9" screen and a 12.3" digital gauge cluster. It is full of the safety systems that you would expect on a Volvo.

The Volvo has an abundance of space inside it. The boot is massive and there is room for 4 people in incredible comfort and room for 5 in decent comfort. The floor can be folded to become a boot divider and it has hooks for your shopping bags and there is a ski hatch.

The Volvo XC40 isn't just Volvo's first compact SUV, it is their first fully electric car. The "Recharge" trim is a bit pricey, compared to the petrol and diesel ones. Avoid the "Recharge" trim, unless you are desperate for a luxury, compact, electric SUV.

The Volvo XC40 has a few disadvantages; the XC40 can get very expensive, very quickly with options. The XC40 doesn't come with a powered tailgate, it is part of an option pack - most other cars in it's class comes with one.
The Volvo XC40 is incredible compared to other cars in its class. It is the best looking, has the most technology, most security and as much space. If I was in the market for a compact SUV, without a shadow of a doubt, I would buy the Volvo XC40.
The Volvo XC40 is the XC60's little brother, so if you want a compact SUV, which is great for families, get the XC40. Prices start from just under £26,000! Which is insane for what you are getting!
