- A very handsome and nicely detailed model made in Germany. This one is mine and I took all the photos of it.

Siku V-series 1965 Buick Wildcat.

Taking a closer look at this rare model.

Made by Siku from 1966-71, it is model number V255. It appeared in three different shades of metallic green. What look to be whitewalls are actually tires fitted over a white plastic insert.

Transparent plastic lever at base of cowl directs the angle of the front wheels.

It is larger in scale than the average Matchbox/Majorette/Hot Wheels, but smaller than Corgi and Dinky. I'm guessing about 1:55. My example isn't mint, but considering how rarely these seem to pop up I am very happy with mine and it is proudly displayed with my few other Siku models of contemporary American cars.

  • I have mainly Lesney Matchbox Superfasts. I also have Corgi, Dinky, and redline Hot Wheels. Plus several odds and ends. About 800-1000 pieces altogether. Vintage stuff, that’s what I collected.

  • How did I not know that this existed until now. Nice!

  • This is way cooler than a lot of Siku's current offerings. I never imagined that they would use such a verdant green.

  • Vintage Diecast cars have never been more popular on LaLD. What do you have in your collection? @tribe

    • I've got a bunch of Redlines I need to take photos of... most from my father's childhood.

    • I have a small collection of the Lone Star Impy cars.

I also have a small collection of redline and blackwall Hot Wheels. I’m currently collecting race themed Matchbox cars from the early 80s to early nineties.
