When it comes to tuning a car, Texan mega-tuners Hennessey can hardly be accused of doing things half-heartedly. They've given the world a crop of cars with four-figure horsepower numbers with matching huge numbers in the speed department. Now, they have decided to play this game with a 2017 Ford Raptor, this time though the numbers are firmly concentrated in the axle department.

To convert a standard Raptor to what you see here, Hennessey fits a kit that includes upgraded Baja-spec Fox suspension, a set of six massive 20-inch wheels shod in knobbly off-road tyres. Buyers also get custom made huge bumpers on the front and rear, and massive roof-mounted LED lights to blind whoever is coming towards you.

So that your Raptor doesn’t have to ‘make do’ with just a piffling 450 horsepower, Hennessey will give it a number of upgrades. They start by bolting a pair of larger turbos to the 3.5-litre V6 motor, a stainless-steel exhaust and an upgraded intercooler with an ECU rework to produce what they describe as 600bhp ‘plus’.

All of this wonderful power reaches all six-wheels via the standard Ford’s own ten-speed automatic gearbox. Assuming you want to bring all this tonnage to a halt, the 6x6 gets the option of massive Brembo brakes for the front and rear, which we would recommend without question.

Buyers can also choose such options as even bigger wheels (we haven’t even asked) and custom interior patterns with pretty much any design buyers want, which we cannot see ending badly at all, not now, not ever.

The total cost for this six-wheeled thing of greatness, £260,000 which seems pretty reasonable to us. If you want one, you’d better be quick as only 50 examples will be built.
