Smoke Sports Cars in Stoplight Races with this R63 AMG

They won't know what hit them!

Way back in 2007, Mercedes decided that they too were a fan of ridiculously fast minivans, so they made them. But, they weren't advertised anywhere, and only could be acquired through a special order. With that bonkers way of ordering your V8-powered Mercedes minivan, no one bought them. And I really mean no one. Just under 200 were sold, and they remain a unicorn for car enthusiasts all across America.

With such low production numbers, it's a really big deal when they come up for sale. Like, really big. An almost $40,000 deal, even with over 100,000 miles. For comparison's sake, a normal 2007 Mercedes R350 with 97,000 miles is listed for just $8,995. A dealership in Chicago called iCars Chicago has somehow acquired one of these beasts, and they know what they have apparently, as this car is listed for $39,888. With that being said, the car has depreciated quite a bit, as the original price tag was $84,700 ($104,000 today).

The R63 is powered by a V8 AMG engine making 507 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. The 0-60 time on this minivan is 4.6 seconds. Mercedes had to LIMIT the top speed of their special minivan to 155 mph. In terms of fuel economy, it's not great. At all. 12 miles per gallon city, and 16 miles per gallon highway.

  • It’s cool but I’m not sure it’s 40K cool

  • It’s a V8 minivan! I bet it could beat the Demon in a 1/4 mile surely

  • I don't have $40K to spend, but I didn't need it. I bought an R63 here in Europe a few months ago for about $19K with 74,500 miles (120,000 km). There are others here in Europe with asking prices between $18K - 35K. I absolutely love mine! I got it up to 118 mph on the autobahn and could have gone faster, but there was light rain and wind.

    • Do you still have the car? That’s awesome!

    • Yes, I still have it. It's a pleasure to drive. These are so rare and crazy that I believe they will be collectors. But I think they could still drop in price before they start increasing in value.

  • Nope. I'd have an AMG E63 wagon over this.
