It's been a rough year for the automotive industry. From parts shortages to reduced inventory that's led to the inflation of the used car market, we've certainly had better years. But with all of the new models introduced in the past year, there's still a light at the end of the tunnel. However, for some vehicles, 2021 will be their last model year, and they're either being replaced by all-new models, or discontinued altogether. Here are all of the vehicles we'll be saying goodbye to in 2022. NOTE: Any and all pricing discussed in this article includes a mandatory destination fee, but does NOT include any applicable taxes, or other fees.

1. BMW 2 Series Convertible (2014-2021)

Fate: DISCONTINUED (FOR NOW)

2015 BMW 235i Convertible (netcarshow.com).

If you were looking for an affordable, fun-to-drive droptop, BMW's 2 Series Convertible was a great option. Last fully redesigned (and first introduced) for the 2014 model year, the 2 Series Convertible just isn't seeing the same sales numbers as it once did. And while BMW has fully redesigned the 2 Series Coupe for 2022, it has decided to discontinue the 2 Series Convertible, at least for now. It's possible that we may see another 2 Series Convertible from BMW in the future, but for now, if you're looking for an affordable, fun-to-drive car from BMW, the all-new 2 Series Coupe is your only option.

2. BMW M2 (2016-2021)

FATE: DISCONTINUED (FOR NOW)

For 2022, BMW has introduced an all-new version of its compact 2 Series Coupe. However, there's one thing missing from the lineup: an M2. While it's likely that we'll see the M2 reintroduced in the next few years, buyers seeking a performance-oriented compact coupe will have to pony up extra money for the BMW M4 Coupe, which is significantly more powerful than the old M2.

3. Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat (2021-2021)

FATE: DISCONTINUED

Dodge shocked the world in 2021 by introducing the fastest three-row SUV it has ever manufactured. Unfortunately, due to stricter emissions requirements (as well as the fact that Dodge only intended the Durango SRT Hellcat to be a limited-production vehicle), Dodge is pulling the plug on its 707-horsepower three-row SUV for the 2022 model year. Dodge has also announced that 2024 will be the final year of production for the ever-popular SRT Hellcat versions of its Challenger sports coupe and Charger full-size sedan, which is also when both cars will be replaced by all-electric (EV) vehicles.

4. Honda Clarity (2008-2021)

FATE: DISCONTINUED

2017 Honda Clarity FCV (netcarshow.com).

2017 Honda Clarity FCV (netcarshow.com).

Honda has long been a believer in alternative fuels, having released its first alternatively-fueled vehicle all the way back in the late 1990s. The latest iteration of its hydrogen fuel cell vehicle (FCV), the Clarity, was available for a three-year lease to California buyers only, and for 2022, it's being discontinued after a four-year production run. Honda already offers hybridized vehicles such as the Accord and Insight, and the Brand is readying an all-electric (EV) crossover SUV (CUV) that's due to be released for the 2024 model year. This means that Honda will be able to offer an environmentally-friendly vehicle that will be available in all 50 states, as compared to the single state (California) that the Clarity FCV was offered in, and you'll actually be able to own it instead of just leasing it.

5. Hyundai Ioniq Electric (2017-2021)

FATE: REPLACED (BY HYUNDAI IONIQ 5)

2020 Hyundai Ioniq Electric (netcarshow.com).

2020 Hyundai Ioniq Electric (netcarshow.com).

Hyundai introduced its first all-electric vehicle, the Ioniq Electric a few years ago. However, for 2022, Hyundai has introduced the all-new Ioniq 5 EUV (Electric Utility Vehicle), which will replace the old Ioniq Electric this year. Hyundai will continue to sell the Toyota Prius-fighting Ioniq Hybrid, as well as the Kona Electric, so you still have plenty of choices if you're looking for an all-electric vehicle (EV) from the Korean auto manufacturer.

7. Hyundai Veloster (Non-N Version) (2012-2021)

FATE: REGULAR VERSIONS DISCONTINUED, N PERFORMANCE VERSION CONTINUES (FOR NOW)

2019 Hyundai Veloster Turbo (netcarshow.com).

2019 Hyundai Veloster Turbo (netcarshow.com).

When Hyundai debuted its quirky three-door Veloster hatchback for the 2012 model year, it was a hit with younger buyers looking for a fun-to-drive yet inexpensive vehicle. In 2019, Hyundai introduced its first "N" performance vehicle to North America, the Veloster N. And while that vehicle will continue as the only model in the Veloster lineup for 2022, Hyundai is discontinuing all other versions of the Veloster for 2022. Buyers looking for practicality in a Hyundai vehicle will want to check out the Brand's entry-level subcompact hatchback, the Venue. But at least hot hatch shoppers will still be able to consider the Veloster N for now.

8. Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT 392 and Trackhawk (2006 (As Grand Cherokee SRT8)-2021 and 2018-2021)

FATE: BOTH DISCONTINUED

2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Trackhawk (netcarshow.com).

2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Trackhawk (netcarshow.com).

Jeep first introduced us to the Grand Cherokee SRT (as the SRT8) all the way back in 2006, and for 2018, it shocked us with the fastest production SUV to ever hit the market, the SRT Trackhawk, powered by the same 6.2L Supercharged HEMI V8 gasoline engine as the Dodge Challenger and Charger SRT Hellcats. With an all-new, fifth-generation Grand Cherokee now on the market, as well as stricter emissions regulations, Jeep has chosen to drop both versions of its performance-oriented SUV. However, you can still get the old Grand Cherokee SRT's 6.4L HEMI V8 gasoline engine in the Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 392, which offers the freedom of either a fabric open-air sunroof, or a removable hardtop roof, for around the same price as the old Grand Cherokee SRT.

9. Kia Sedona (2002-2021)

FATE: REPLACED (BY KIA CARNIVAL)

2015 Kia Sedona SX (netcarshow.com).

2015 Kia Sedona SX (netcarshow.com).

Kia introduced its first (and only) minivan to North America for 2002, the Sedona, as a renamed version of the Grand Carnival. For 2022, Kia is looking to shed its minivan image by renaming the Sedona the Carnival, and fully redesigning it. Kia prefers that you call the new Carnival a Multipurpose Vehicle (MPV), as it features more crossover SUV (CUV)-like exterior styling, and features borrowed from some of Kia's SUV's. However, we still prefer to call the Carnival a minivan.

10. Mazda CX-3 (2016-2021)

FATE: REPLACED (BY MAZDA CX-30)

2016 Mazda CX-3 Grand Touring (netcarshow.com).

2016 Mazda CX-3 Grand Touring (netcarshow.com).

Mazda introduced its entry into the subcompact SUV class, the CX-3, for the 2016 model year, and for 2022, it is finally laying it to rest. However, the slightly larger CX-30 will take its place, and is based on the excellent Mazda 3. Mazda is looking to shed its "Budget-Car" image with more luxurious and well-equipped vehicles, and the CX-3 just doesn't match that image. The subcompact SUV segment is one of the hottest-selling segments right now, and the CX-30 is an excellent contender.

11. Mazda 6 (2003-2021)

FATE: DISCONTINUED (FOR NOW)

2014 Mazda 6 i Grand Touring (netcarshow.com).

2014 Mazda 6 i Grand Touring (netcarshow.com).

The Mazda 6, first introduced for the 2003 model year, has been a popular contender in the midsize sedan class. However, midsize sedan sales in North America have been shrinking over the past few years, with many manufacturer exiting the segment. Mazda has held on as long as it possibly can, and for 2022, it is dropping the 6 from its lineup. However, this may not be the end of the road for a Mazda midsize sedan, as the Brand is rumored to be working on a Rear Wheel Drive (RWD), Turbocharged Inline Six-Cylinder (I6)-powered successor to the 6, and it may debut for the 2024 model year. Will the all-new Mazda "6" be a worthy competitor to vehicles such as the BMW 3 Series and Genesis G70? We'll have to wait until the all-new model debuts to see for ourselves.

12. Polestar 1 (2020-2021)

FATE: DISCONTINUED

2020 Polestar 1 (netcarshow.com).

2020 Polestar 1 (netcarshow.com).

Volvo spun off its Polestar performance sub-brand into its own line of vehicles in 2020, and its first model was a sporty hybrid gasoline/electric luxury coupe called the Polestar 1. For 2021, Polestar introduced the Polestar 2 electric vehicle (EV), and is therefore discontinuing the Polestar 1 for 2022. We look forward to see the Polestar brand expand over the next couple of years, as it looks to compete with other EV brands such as Tesla.

13. Rolls Royce Dawn and Wraith (2015-2021 and 2017-2021)

FATE: BOTH DISCONTINUED

2017 Rolls Royce Dawn (netcarshow.com).

2017 Rolls Royce Dawn (netcarshow.com).

Rolls Royce first introduced its BMW 7 Series-based Dawn Convertible and Wraith Coupe a few years ago, and while the Brand has introduced an all-new version of its Ghost luxury sedan that's now based on its own platform, Rolls Royce has chosen to discontinue both the Dawn and Wraith from its lineup for 2022. Whether or not Rolls Royce will reintroduce a coupe or convertible to its lineup in the future remains to be seen, but the pair of current coupes and convertibles had a good run in the ultra-luxury brand's lineup.

14. Toyota Land Cruiser (1951 (As Toyota BJ)-2021)

FATE: DISCONTINUED (SORT OF) AND REPLACED (BY LEXUS LX600)

2008 Toyota Land Cruiser (netcarshow.com).

2008 Toyota Land Cruiser (netcarshow.com).

The Toyota Land Cruiser has long been a favorite of off-road enthusiasts for several decades, having first been introduced as the Toyota BJ in 1951. However, with declining sales of its flagship luxury SUV declining over the past couple of years, the Japanese automaker has chosen to discontinue the Land Cruiser from the North American market for 2022. However, Toyota's luxury division, Lexus, has released an all-new version of the LX flagship luxury SUV for the 2022 model year, and that vehicle is based off of the all-new Toyota Land Cruiser that's sold overseas. While it's essentially wearing a tuxedo, the all-new 2022 Lexus LX600 will still offer the same off-road capabilities as the all-new Toyota Land Cruiser, just with a more luxurious interior.

Which discontinued vehicle on this list will you miss the most? Be sure to let us know in the comments down below, and stay tuned right here to DriveTribe for the latest automotive news as it becomes available!

  • The last few Land Cruisers sold for $50K over sticker in the US, I wish I could have afforded to buy one.

    • They are certainly collector's items... sure the Lexus LX is nice, but it doesn't have the tough look of the Land Cruiser.

  • I’m gonna miss the old design language of BMW. A personal golden era. Both the 2 series, M2 and 4 series gran coupe have been discontinued :(

I really miss Adrian van Hooydonk and his teams designs so bad. The Aventador was also discontinued which is very sad to see that car go.

    • While I hated the new Kidney Grille at first, it actually looks good on some vehicles, such as the new 4 Series Gran Coupe.

    • Yeah! That car looks so good

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO not the M2😭😭😭

    • It is very possible that a new M2 is around the corner... BMW usually waits 1 or 2 years before releasing the M model following a redesign of the standard vehicle.

  • I’ll miss the Mazda Mazda6 the most from a practicality standpoint, but I’ll miss the Rolls-Royce Dawn for its elegant styling. I love the name too and fondly recall James May driving it and reviewing it(slowly of course).

    • I'm hoping Mazda is going to release a RWD-based, Turbo I6-Powered 6 to compete with BMW and Genesis.
