Somebody's selling the world's only USB-C iPhone for over $100,000 on eBay

Would you buy it?

Even in 2021, Apple has never put a USB-C port in the iPhone. Why, you might ask, because Apple do what they want. So the only way to have one with this magical port is to do it yourself... then apparently sell it for the price of a luxury vehicle.

While looking on eBay, I found the world's first USB-C iPhone. Yes, it's fully functional and yes it is 100% real, but it also comes with a hefty $100,000+ price tag.

This Frankenstein of a phone is based on the iPhone X and looks like it came straight from Apple's factory.

If you bid on this phone, however, you must agree to a few things. By bidding on this auction you agree that you will not restore, update, or erase this iPhone, you will not use it as your daily phone, and you will not open it up to see what's inside. This is just what the seller wants.

The seller will also offer you a 30min call to ask questions about the device just in case you think it might be fake. But $100,00 for a phone?! Seems a bit steep, don't you think?

  • Whoever thinks it’s a good idea to buy this is an idiot. The seller then thinks they can interview the buyer and prevent various things from happening after sold (not that it’ll sell).

I suspect it might only be a matter of time until apple make one not to mention it won’t charge any quicker due to software and will probably overheat.

Any potential buyer (if there is one) needs to get a written contract that if it explodes, stops working or has any minor issue is liable for a 200% refund!!

  • What’s the point? I see no problem with the normal lightning cable

  • The issue remains that while the type C is more convenient, since it's everywhere and non-proprietary, the iPhone in question still only supports USB 2.0 transfer speeds on the wire. Either Apple have to go Thunderbolt, like with the iPad Pro or completely wireless. Both options are much speedier than what's currently Lightning.

  • When I could do it myself and sell it for less, as well as take the contract thing off? hell no. But tbh, why can't you open it up and see what's inside lmao.

    • He will probably be like β€œITS A $100,000 PHONE DONT OPEN IT”

Or something but actually finding a phone like that isn’t hard because my aunt owns three of them and in perfect condition

    • 1) I respec the name. 2) It's custom-made, and I kind of want to see how he did it.
