Someone tried to turn a Porsche Boxster into a Lamborghini...
Just when you think it couldn't get worse, someone tried to build a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 roadster using a Porsche Boxster as the base. What the #@*&!
Believe it or not, this man had the audacity to put it up for sale on eBay for $16,000. I wouldn't give him a box of tissues for it nevermind $16k!
The Boxster used for this is a 2001 Porsche Boxster with a 2.7L flat six which at the time had done 51,000 miles. But you may be wondering how you can turn such a small car like the Porsche into a Lamborghini which tend to be long... Well, the designer of course extended the base by 10 inches to make this ghastly piece of work.
I would highly recommend reading the eBay sellers description for this 'Lambo', it is rather entertaining.
"This awesome looking Porsche boxster rebody can make a fun car for the mechanical type person. This car is titled and driven and insured as a 2001 boxster. This is not an easy replica to build, On a good note there are a lot of things done already, however in the big picture I would say the car is less than 50% completed.
This is a 2001 porsche boxster which has been cut and stretched 10 inches for this body kit to fit onto it correctly. The doors have power windows and are hinged and working. The door skins are only held on by screws right now, in one of the pictures where I have removed the skin you can see what they have done underneath the skin. The hood hinges are on the hood but not welded to the body of the car.
The rear trunk area is hinged and working well with struts to hold it open, but no latch to lock it closed. The far rear trunk is hinged and working also with struts to hold it open and it has a latch and lock. The rear tail light lenses are just there for show but they are not installed, same with the front lights.
ALL parts in these pictures are included. What you see is what you get. There is a lambo replica interior, as pictured, none of the interior is attached. Please email or call with any questions.
I did not build this car, And I do not build these type of cars, I took this in on trade cheap, So I am going to sell it cheap. Minimum price is $15,000. You will not find this complete of a setup for anything close to this price. This car was sitting for 3 years before traded to me, So I did empty the gas tank and put in new gas, After that I had to cut the fan belt because the AC compressor was locked up. The car now starts right up and runs perfect, but will need an AC compressor. I would not drive it far until this is fixed because it will overheat as there is no water pump belt as the AC belt is the same one.
To answer many questions about driving the car I will say “NO YOU CAN NOT DRIVE THE CAR HOME EVEN IF YOU FIX THE BELT , THE FRONT WINDSHIELD IS NOT GLUED IN, THE INTERIOR IS NOT ATTACHED, THE LIGHTS DO NOT WORK, YES ALL OF THE WIRING IS THERE AND CAN BE HOOKED UP FOR LIGHTS ECT.. HOWEVER YOU WILL NEED TO SPEND 1000 OR SO HOURS TO COMPLETE THIS CAR AND DRIVE IT. ”
This car currently lot runs and drives, it will drive onto a transport trailer, or around a shop or property, but not on the roads. The engine does sound very good and does not drip oil or blow any smoke at all. I would be willing to remove the complete body kit with all of its lambo parts from the boxster and sell that setup for less, I could use the boxster for another project. The car is located in Palm Bay, Florida and can be inspected with appointment."
What a proper state this 'car' (I don't even want to call it a car anymore) is. "You will not find this complete of a setup for anything close to this price" does it for me. Just buy a 2001 Boxster for that price!
