South Africa's Festival of Motoring Was Wild!
Lucky me! BMW South Africa and G&G Productions asked me to travel back to my home country to MC at the FOM. The last job I did with them was the amazing M Festival.
It is always great to be able to travel home for work. I am delighted to see the car industry doing so well and I'm so proud to be able to represent BMW in South Africa.
It was a 3 day event at the Kyalami Race Track in JHB with all the motoring brands there. The energy was amazing!
My job was MC for the 4 live shows we did everyday on the skid pad at the back of the BMW BLVD. The blvd was filled with excited car enthusiasts and all the latest cars on display.
They also had a live graffiti artist, Rob Denkinger making some beautiful art on the blackened walls around the i8. A "Tech Zone" for all things future BMW, a really cool "Kids Zone" and above on another platform they had the BMW Driving Experience team doing chauffeur drives and adrenaline, fun filled passenger hot laps around the track.
I can't believe I have such a big support group in South Africa! It was so nice to meet so many of you! I really appreciate all the kind words.
The live shows were awesome! We had two of the BDE instructors, Ronaldo Verolini and Dion Ruppert join us for a drifting performance with "ring leader" Matthew Pearce (also a BDE instructor).
The show started with me in the centre as the pivot point as Dion drifted around me. Then we had the amazing Stacey Lee May come out and show off in her pink 325i. Back to the boys after Stacey for a double drifting sequence where Matt and I took it in turns to stand in the middle. If I wasn't out of the car in the middle, I was in the car of course and loving every minute of it.

Stacey Lee May - SA's Spin Queen or Queen of Smoke was the star of the show as she performed a second time, only this sequence she upped the game by getting out of the car as it spun around on the spot!
Stacey is a spinning enthusiast from Eldorado Park and she is only 22 years old! She is unbelievably talented and so humble. Stacey appeared on The Grand Tour with Jeremy Clarkson and is one of just a handful of women to have been featured on the show. Yes girl!
I was lucky enough to get a ride as a passenger in the very last show thanks to her mum who walked out on the stage before the show ended and lead me to the passenger seat. So nice to see her whole family there supporting her.
BTW... there are no seat belts in this car and half way through her spinning show, Stacey disappeared out the window!
The Festival of Motoring is a massive event in South Africa but it was also a race weekend for the Global Touring Cars Championship (GTC). We were in full support of Sasol BMW driver, Gennaro Bonafede, who had some bad luck in race 1 with an engine failure on the very last lap. However, he came back strong in race 2 and led the field from the start to the chequered flag, taking home the trophy for 1st place. Woohoo!
A massive well done to everyone who put this together! All the G&G Productions team and everyone at BMW SA. It was an amazing event and I'm so happy I got to be apart of it.
Thanks to the BMW Driving Instructors: Dion, Ronaldo and Matt for an awesome show! We had so much fun.
Special thanks to Ronaldo and Matt for looking after me all weekend! I haven't laughed that much in ages.
I am delighted to announce I will be back at Kyalami for The BMW M Festival in October 2019!!! Joined by my partner in crime, Jacob Moshokoa. I can't wait!
My vlog of the weekend should be coming out soon on my Youtube channel @missemmawalsh
Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed it!
