Special edition Ford Ranger Raptor X will definitely turn heads
Don't like racing stripes? Ford has something for you too
As far as pickup trucks are concerned, there seems to be an ongoing tussle between countries like America and Australia. Reason? Who gets more of the cooler vehicles. It turns out, the island country of Australia benefits with certain special editions being offered by carmakers. And to add rub salt to the wounds of American pickup enthusiasts, Ford has come up with yet another special variant for the Aussies.
Popular nameplate, Ford Ranger, gets a new cosmetic-centric update called the Raptor X variant. This gets you some visually enhancing upgrades like Carbon twill matte black stripes with red accents all over the car except the front fenders.
Further matte black treatment can be seen across the front grille, bumper, over fenders, door handles, fender vents, mirror caps, fog lamp bezels, and rear bumper cover. Even the wheels come painted in Asphalt Black Matte and the pickup truck gets some additions such as red tow hooks up front and an extended leg sports bar over the bed.
The upgrades continue inside the cabin too with the steering wheel and the dashboard procuring red contrast stitching along with Black Alley accents. Enthusiasts expecting some mechanical changes would be disappointed to know, the Raptor X is merely an appearance package.
Though if you’re someone who prefers a more subdued approach to visual upgrades, good news! Ford Australia is bringing back the more rugged FX4 variant on sale, all thanks to customers apparently. President and CEO of Ford Australia and New Zealand, Andrew Birkic, had this to say about the new models: "The styling changes made as part of the Ranger Raptor X will help it to keep turning heads as a stand out member of the Ford Performance family. And, thanks to customer feedback, we're bringing back the Ranger FX4."
When compared to the regular Ranger Raptor, the FX4 boasts of a higher towing and payload capacity. Building up on that, the FX4 further features darkened bi-LED headlights, an FX4-specific mesh front grille in Ebony Black, 18-inch FX4 wheels, 3D decals, an extended sports bar in black. Topping it up are the mirrors, handles, and fender accents, all finished in Ebony Black. The cabin of the FX4 gets a similar leather upholstery setup as the Raptor X along with red stitching and red accents across the interiors.
Customers looking to get one of these will have to wait until July, this year. Prices for both are as follows - the Ranger FX4 starts from $46,300 while the Raptor X demands $61,300.
