Spectacular crash at the Rallye Cœur de France
Rally is a particularly difficult discipline to master. Unlike races on asphalt circuits, the special stages mix dirt, snow, ice, mud and asphalt, forcing the drivers to constantly adapt. Some tracks like the WRC in Finland are particularly perilous.
The cars pass within a few metres of trees at dizzying speeds. A small mistake can lead to serious accidents. During the Rallye Cœur de France that took place between 25 and 27 September 2020 in Savigny-sur-Braye, France, Lucas Zielinski and Enzo Mahinc made an impressive crash.
The driver arrived much too fast before a sharp turn. As a result, his Ford Fiesta R2B couldn't slow down in time and continued straight ahead. The city car then hit a bump at full speed before taking off several meters. The car then landed on the roof before rolling over again.
Despite the obvious violence of the impact, the two team members were not seriously injured. The driver most likely misunderstood the instructions given by his co-driver. As he was on a hilltop, he could not see the turn either.
