SpeedSource IMSA team shuts down, set for auction this month
The SpeedSource IMSA team has shuttered all operations as the Florida-based team has decided to place its equipment up for auction later in the month.
The sell-off comes as a result of the team losing its factory Mazda Prototype contract to Joest Racing earlier this year. The Sylvain Tremblay-owned team is selling one ex-Status GP Lola LMP2 and a Multimatic P2 without an engine. Three of the unique tube-frame, diesel-powered Mazda 6 GX models built by Riley Technologies for the 2013 Grand-Am season will also be available.
Only one of them comes complete with a motor. The auction will take place at the team’s shop in Coral Springs, Florida, and will also include non-car parts and equipment.
The team enjoyed a great deal of success since its genesis in 1995, especially alongside Mazda prior to the Grand-Am merger with the American Le Mans Series.
